NITI Ayog's figures on unemployment in Goa inaccurate: Pramod Sawant
Panaji/UNI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday claimed that the figures released by NITI Ayog on unemployment in the state are inaccurate as there are several people who have already been gainfully employed.
Earlier, NITI Ayog said there are 1.10 lakh unemployed youth in Goa.
The figure is not correct as 80,000 are already employed but they have not cancelled their names in the employment exchanges as they are waiting for government jobs,' Sawant told reporters in the city.
He claimed that even names of government servants too still figure in the list and said a system would be worked out to cancel the names of the people who were already employed.
The Goa CM claimed that only 20,000 youth are unemployed in the coastal state.
Meanwhile, Congress took a dig at his claim saying it was the Chief Minister 'who invented 102 percent Covid Vaccination Theory.'
'Wow!!Kudos to @BJP4Goa @goacm @DrPramodPSawant for ridiculing @NITIAayog headed by @PMOIndia @narendramodi on its Report of 1.10 lakhs unemployed in Goa. You are a genius who invented 102% Covid Vaccination Theory. @BJP4India needs to reward you soon. Shakha education at its best,' Goa Congress President Amit Patkar tweeted.
