Ola Co-Founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has announced restarting the operation of electric bike taxis from Saturday.
Ola's S1 electric scooters will be operated as bike taxis in the city, he said.
"Restarting the Ola Bike in Blr today. This time, all-electric and our own S1 scooters!" Aggarwal wrote on X.
This announcement comes in the wake of the Karnataka Private Transporters Association having observed bandh asking the Congress government to ban taxi operations in Bengaluru. Earlier, some instances of auto rickshaw drivers assaulting bike taxi riders for plying commuters.
Ola had earlier launched bike taxi services in Bengaluru, but withdrew it.
Aggarwal also announced prices for bike taxis on the microblogging site. Rs 25 has been fixed for a 5 kms ride, and Rs 50 for 10km, Aggarwal said.
The pricing is lowest and very comfortable, besides great for the environment, he said, adding that it will be scaled up across India over next few months.
