Indian Railways achieves 887.24 MT freight loading till Oct 2023
Indian Railways transported 887.25 million tons of freight between April and October 2023, an increase of about 31.61 million tons compared to the same period last year when they transported 855.64 million tons, the Ministry of Railways said on Wednesday.
In terms of earnings, this year, the Indian Railways made Rs 95,929.30 crore, which is about Rs 3,584.03 crore more than the Rs 92,345.27 crore it earned in the same period last year.
In October 2023, Indian Railways transported 129.03 million tons of freight, which is 8.47% more than the 118.95 million tons transported in October 2022. The revenue from this freight in October 2023 was Rs 14,231.05 crores, showing an increase of about 6.57% compared to the Rs. 13,353.81 crores earned in October 2022.
The railways achieved loading of 64.82 MT in coal, 14.81 MT in iron ore, 5.74 MT in pig iron and finished steel, 6.32 MT in cement (excl. clinker), 4.77 MT in clinker, 3.62 MT in foodgrains, 5.72 MT in fertilizers, 4.35 MT in mineral oil, 7.15 MT in containers and 8.55 MT in balance other goods during October, 2023.
