Royal Enfield inaugurates new warehouse in Kolkata, East India witnesses 36 pct YTD increase in wholesale growth
Kolkata: Leading motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield on Friday said it has witnessed a 'robust growth' in the East region, accounting for 27% of overall motorcycle sales for the brand in the past year.
The region has experienced the greatest wholesale growth, with a 36% YTD increase in the past year.
It is the leader in the above 125CC two-wheeler segment in West Bengal with a share of 32% in November.
During the festive season, Royal Enfield has enjoyed a tremendous boost in demand, receiving an overwhelming response during Durga Puja, Diwali and Dhanteras with a 47% year-on-year growth.
The entire Royal Enfield portfolio is loved by consumers in the east region with the Royal Enfield Classic 350 contributing 43.7% followed by Hunter 350 and Meteor 350 at 25.4% and 14.2%, respectively in the overall sales in the region.
The growing love for Royal Enfield motorcycles has resulted in a growing community of Royal Enfield owners.
Royal Enfield boasts one of the largest riding communities in the world and with more riders joining every year, the brand promotes sustainable riding practices with each ride.
In recent years, the company has fostered a culture of adventure touring and exploration with a number of intensely immersive rides offered as part of its Rides and Events programme like the Uncover North East ride to Ziro Festival in Arunachal Pradesh and Eastern Escapes, which was the first-ever exclusive media ride exploring the picturesque terrains of the region on the agile Scram 411 among others.
Royal Enfield also has exclusive regional ride properties like BSRM (Bengal Sikkim Riders Meet) in West Bengal and Road Rambler in North East to nurture the culture of adventure touring and exploration in the region.
The original, Himalayan 411 and Scram 411 have been very popular choices for explorers and adventure seekers. With the introduction of the all-new Himalayan, the brand is gaining increasing traction in demand and the new motorcycle has seen a huge spike in enquiry and bookings.
The brand plans to organize many more rides focusing on the Himalayas of North Bengal and North East on the all-new Himalayan.
Royal Enfield’s commitment to the region goes beyond motorcycles and rides.
In order to preserve and promote the intangible cultural legacy of the Eastern Himalayan regions, particularly the North East region, Royal Enfield also works closely with UNESCO.
Rides such as The Great Himalayan Exploration have facilitated communication between the rider community and the Himalayan communities and promote a more sustainable ecosystem in the region.
To cater to this ever-growing community, Royal Enfield inaugurated a new warehouse in Kolkata. With the addition of the new warehouse in the East, the transit time would reduce significantly for the Eastern states and help in building customer, channel partner and rental partner’s confidence.
The warehouse will support the parts supply to the regions of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Mizoram, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Orissa and will be close to the network points to reduce logistics transit time.
The warehouse will be able to service 594 channel partners including 251 Studio stores.
Royal Enfield has over 471 outlets in the east with 106 outlets including 58 main stores and 48 studio stores across 23 districts in the state of West Bengal to cater to the ever-increasing demand for Royal Enfield motorcycles.
