Apple plans four new retail stores in India, announces 'Made in India' iPhone 16 Pro, Pro Max
Mumbai/IBNS: American tech giant Apple is set to open four new retail stores in India and has started manufacturing its iPhone 16 Pro models locally, as part of its effort to strengthen its presence in the world's second-largest smartphone market.
The California-based company will launch new outlets in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai, building on the success of its first two Indian stores that opened in Mumbai and New Delhi last year.
“We are excited to expand our teams as we plan to open more stores in India, driven by the creativity and passion of our customers here,” said Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail, in a statement.
“We look forward to offering more opportunities for customers to explore our incredible products and services, and engage with our knowledgeable team members,” O'Brien added.
However, no specific opening dates for the new stores were provided.
In addition to its retail expansion, Apple confirmed that it has started producing the entire iPhone 16 lineup, including Pro models, within India.
The company began assembling iPhones in India in 2017, starting with the iPhone SE, as part of its strategy to diversify production away from China and leverage India’s growing smartphone market.
