BSE Sensex tanks over 930 points today

The BSE Sensex crashed 930.55 to close at 80,220.72 points with heavy selling seen across the board along with weak global cues.

The National Stock Exchange dropped 309 points to end at 24,472.10.

The Sensex opened positive, rising 4 pts at 81,155.08. It was gained further 353 pts at 81,504.24, days high, UNI reported.

Sensex further tanked 1002 pts to touch 80,149.53.

It was the day's low point.

The NSE registered days high and low at 24,882 and 24,445.80 pts respectively.

The stocks that dragged the market were Industrials by 3.51 pc, Realty by 3.29 pc, Metal by 2.99 pc and Utilities by 2.64 pc.

The Mid cap slipped 2.52 pc while Small cap by 3.81 pc.

In 30 scrips, 1 advanced, while 29 declined, UNI news agency reported.

The key losers of the day were M & M by 3.62 pc to Rs 2888.65, SBI by 2.97 pc to Rs 790, Powergrid by 2.92 pc to Rs 321.35, Tata Steel by 2.61 pc to Rs 150.95 and IndusInd Bank by 2.35 pc to Rs 1277.30.

The major gainers were ICICI Bank by 0.77 pc to Rs 1269 and Nestle India Ltd by 0.13 pc to Rs 2358.
