Mangalore, Sept 9 (IBNS): Infosys Mangalore Development Centre (DC), the company's first DC to be built outside of Bangalore, on Wednesday celebrated its 20th anniversary.
From its humble beginning with 25 employees in 1995, the DC has grown from strength to strength over the last 2 decades. Today, the 347 acre campus is home to over 3,900 employees, 2.5 lakh trees, 7 rain water ponds and a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified Software Development Block.

On this occasion, the Infosys Mangalore DC was bustling with activities and events.

The celebrations commenced in August with Codelexia – a workshop on trends in IT field for faculty members followed by Hackathon for faculty and students of Engineering colleges in and around the city.

In September, the DC reintroduced ‘Scholar-2015’, an Inter-High School Quiz Competition which witnessed an overwhelming participation from 41 schools. Rewards and recognitions program, a karaoke evening and a live concert along with dance performances are planned for the week to keep the Infoscions immersed and entertained.

Over the years, the DC has invested resources in developing the local community in and around Mangalore.

Some of the key initiatives done in this direction include working with the district administration to develop a low cost software to track and eradicate Malaria, conducting business and technology led competitions at local schools and engineering institutions, organizing vocational training for the unemployed youth and faculty enablement programs, among others.

The CSR arm of the DC, PRERANA, contributed INR 18 Lakh towards medical aid for economically underprivileged patients, offered scholarships to 254 students and also conducted blood donation camps on a periodic basis in the last financial year.

Speaking on the occasion, Gopikrishnan Konnanath, DC Head – Infosys Mangalore, said: “Having started operations at a small scale in 1995 as the first DC outside the Headquarters, the center has now come a long way in terms of business growth, infrastructure, competency development and sustainability initiatives.  As we proudly celebrate the 20th anniversary of the DC, we recognize the unrelenting support and contribution of our key stakeholders – clients, Infosys’ management, employees of the DC and the local community - towards the growth of the center.”
