Indus Towers achieves 25,000 tenancies in WB ensuring seamless connectivity for subscribers
Achieving a milestone of over 25,000 tenancies across its eight customers (Vodafone, Airtel, Idea, Reliance Jio, Tata Teleservices, MTS, Aircel and Reliance Communication), Indus Towers’ networks are enabling three out of every four calls in the state of West Bengal.
Working on a vision of making West Bengal a Smart City, Indus Towers has collaborated with the Government to aid in the making of 12 Smart Cities in geographies covered in West Bengal region i.e. Kolkata, Rest of Bengal, Sikkim and Andamans.
Among the 5 locations chosen by the Govternment as part of Phase-I Smart City implementation, Indus Towers is already at advanced stages of discussions and agreement for New Town, Salt Lake and Haldia, while discussions for Durgapur and Port Blair are in the process of being initiated.
Commenting about the initiatives, Balaji R, Circle CEO – West Bengal, Indus Towers Ltd. said, “It is very encouraging to witness that both telecom subscribers & telecom penetration have grown by around 20% in the last 5 years. Further, Indus has also established towers in Lachung and Lachen - two of the highest locations for telecom circle, as well as in various remote locations from the hills of North Bengal to the islands in the Sundarban delta, thus facilitating improved administrative convenience, comfort among local populace and tourism potential.
