Vizag Steel, Rourkella Steel emerge victorious at Zone 2 final of 'Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz 2015'

Kolkata, Oct 5 (IBNS): The Zone 2 finale of Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz that concluded on Monday witnessed Santanu Dey and Sabyasachi Pani from Vizag Steel in Vizag emerge victorious after defeating the regional champions from 6 eastern cities.

Also confirming their spot in the national finals, which will be held in Mumbai in October 2015, were –SS Panda and Sampad Mishra from Rourkela Steel, Ranchi.

"Entering its 12th year of quizzing, this year the Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz witnessed some edge of the seat quizzing and a nail biting finish at the Zone 2 final giving the audience a spectacular show of intellect and wit. Showcasing their quizzing acumen and giving a tough fight to the top two teams at the Zonal finals, were the teams from, XIMB Bhubaneswar, TATA Motors Jamshedpur, Bhillai Steel Plant Raipur, Jt. Director of Health Services (Govt. of Assam) Guwahati and MJunction Kokata," a company statement said.

Present at the venue and congratulating the winners for their victory, Chief Guest Abraham George Stephano, Managing Director, Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Limited Kolkata, said, “I feel very excited and proud to be a part of this kind of programme as it showcases the spirit of enquiry and entrepreneurship among such talents.”

Preceding the zonal finals was the Kolkata regional round, which was the last of the 7 regional rounds to be held in Zone 2. The other regional rounds were held in cities of Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Ranchi, and Jamshedpur.

Emerging victorious and booking themselves the last spot in the Zone 2 finals were Debashis Mukherjee and Abhisekh Kar from M Junction Services LTD, who were declared as the winners of the Kolkata regional rounds. Runners-up at the Kolkata regional round were Aniruddha Sinha and Rishin Chatterjee from Lafarge India PVT. LTD.

The other teams that made it to the regional finals at Kolkata were Ravishankar Saha and Rajarsh Chanda from Cap Gemini , Abheek Maitra and Javed Mallik from Cognizant technology Soloutions, Siddharth Mitra  and Srikanth Suman from Tata Steel, Agnimitra Biswas and Bhaskar Dipta Bhattacharjee from IBM .

The Kolkata regional winners won a prize of Rs. 75,000 while the runners-up received Rs. 35,000. The winners of the national final will receive a grand prize of Rs. 500,000 along with the coveted Tata Crucible Trophy plus as a special prize this year, the national winners will also receive a brand new Bolt car from Tata Motors.

The quiz was conducted by ace quizmaster and show host Giri Balasubramaniam aka Pickbrain.

The Zone 2 final will be succeeded by Zone 4 (Bangalore – 10th October) and Zone 3 (Mumbai – 11th October) finale. This will be followed by the National Finale to be held in Mumbai where top two teams from each of the four zones will compete for the national championship title.
