Harsimrat Kaur Badal meets ASSOCHAM, Nestle representatives

New Delhi, June 11 (IBNS) Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal met the representatives of ASSOCHAM and Nestle in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Badal discussed the status of investment in food processing industry as a means to achieve the target of employment generation and providing international quality processed foods to Indian consumers at large.

The Minister informed them about launching a new revolutionary scheme for processing and preservation of perishable produce.

"Further, the proposals are also being taken up at appropriate levels for training and business incubation for up-scaling the present schemes of cold chain, value addition and preservation infrastructure and Mega Food Parks," read a government statement.

Badal informed that the implementation of these schemes will add to the capacity of Cold Chain Projects, Mega Food Parks and units for processing and preservation of perishable produce.

The Minister also met the representative of Bharti Enterprises and discussed new tax proposals and forward and backward integration of food chains with small processing units.
