Siddhivinayak to Shah Rukh Khan on Apple chief executive's India tour menu

Mumbai, May 18 (IBNS) Tim Cook, Apple's chief executive, began his India sojourn with a visit to the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai on Wednesday morning, according to media reports.
Cook arrived in Mumbai around Tuesday midnight from China on a four-day visit to India.
 
During his visit to the famous Ganesha temple of Mumbai, according to NDTV, Cook met Anant Ambani, son of Reliance Industries chairman,Mukesh Ambani, and was photographed talking to him.
 
Interestingly, Reliance is one of the key telecom companies rolling out 4G network in India and according to some reports, Apple is looking forward to increased sales of Apple iPhone in India following the availability of faster networks.
 
According to media reports, Cook is expected to meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry and actor Shah Rukh Khan. Later in the week, Cook is also expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
 
On Wednesday, Apple announced a new initiative to support engineering talent and accelerate growth in India’s iOS developer community by establishing a Design and Development Accelerator in Bengaluru,
 
“India is home to one of the most vibrant and entrepreneurial iOS development communities in the world,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “With the opening of this new facility in Bengaluru, we’re giving developers access to tools which will help them create innovative apps for customers around the world.”

According to media reports, Apple is likely to set up its own branded stores in India and is setting up a digital mapping centre in Hyderabad.
