IATA reappoints Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal to its Board of Governors
The reappointment follows IATA’s 72nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Dublin, Ireland.
As a member of the Board of Governors, Mr. Goyal will participate in providing policy directives and guidance to IATA Industry Committees and to their subsidiary bodies.
Goyal will serve a three-year term, lasting until the close of IATA’s 75th AGM in 2019.
He is the only representative from India, the fastest growing aviation market in the world, on the IATA Board of Governors.
IATA is an association which represents over 260 member airlines, and plays a vital role in helping formulate global policy on critical aviation issues. Working closely with its airline members and the air transport industry as a whole, IATA promotes safe, reliable, secure and economical air travel, for the benefit of consumers and travelers worldwide.
Naresh Goyal, Chairman, Jet Airways Group commenting on his reappointment said, “I am honoured to have been re-appointed to the very prestigious IATA Board of Governors. IATA, as the pre-eminent international body representing and serving the global commercial aviation industry, has played a pivotal role in transforming the industry. I look forward to working closely with my colleagues on the IATA Board of Governors to facilitate further growth and development of aviation across the world.”
Goyal, who founded Jet Airways 23 years ago, was first elected to the 30-member Board of Governors in 2004 for a two-year tenure. He was then reappointed in 2008 and has held a seat on the Board of Governors since.
