CONCOR inaugurates port side container facility at Krishnapatnam Port

Mumbai, July 26 (IBNS): Krishnapatnam Port, the country's largest all-weather; deep water port on the east-coast of India has inaugurated CONCOR's-Port Side Container facility -a Government of India undertaking.
This event is a significant turning point for the port, as the opening up of the Port Side Container facility will ensure the expansion and growth of the container terminal in the port. 
 
 
It will also help keep the quality of the cargo intact and help in safe and efficient transportation.
 
Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Minister of Railways, inaugurated the CONCOR’s - Port Side Container facility, the construction of the grade separator and the crew running room at Krishnapatnam Port. 
 
Union urban development minister  Venkaiah Naidu was also present at the occasion.
 
The CONCOR has agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to initiate 3 Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLP), located at Vishakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam and Kakinada. 
 
CONCOR has consistent train services to and from Krishnapatnam Port. The port has already successfully acquired 140.58 acres of land at Krishnapatnam for setting up the MMLP and is in the process of acquisition of another 24.03 acres. The construction work of the Phase-1 will commence soon at Krishnapatnam.
 
The dignitaries also inaugurated the Golf Course in the premises of Krishnapatnam port.
 
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Prabhu said, “CONCOR is a vital part of Indian Railways and we are happy to associate with one of country’s fastest growing ports like Krishnapatnam. Volume of exports and imports play a crucial role in the development of India’s economy. Taking effective measures to promote both exports and imports will generously boost the GDP of the nation.”
 
“Exports and imports are contributing to nearly 16-17 percent of GDP and promoting such activity would have an avid impact on the economy,” he further added.
 
Anil Yendluri, CEO, KPCL said, “As a new-generation port, our objectives and efforts are focused on providing the best in class services to both our exporters as well as importers."
 
"With CONCOR on-board Krishnapatnam will now be able to ensure a new level of smooth processing, quick turnaround and easy throughput of cargo thereby further strengthening business ties with our stakeholders. This will foster trade, boost industrial growth and aid in the development of the region thereby enriching the end customer experience,” said he.
 
The other ministers who were present at the occasion were P Narayana, Municipal administration minister; Member of Parliament Rajamohan Reddy and Varaprasad; MLAs’ Anil Kumar Yadav, Kotamreddi Sridhar Reddy and Somireddi Chandramohan Reddy, Bommireddy Raghavendra Reddy, Chairman, Nellore Zilla Parishad and M Janaki, District collector.
 
Krishnapatnam port was most recently recognized as the key engine driving economic growth for Andhra Pradesh and as a harbor that has set new efficiency and operational benchmarks for the Indian port sector. The recognition came in from India’s renowned industrial body – CII at its SR Excellence Awards for 2015-16.
