Mumbai, Aug 23 (IBNS): Market sentiment failed to perk up on Tuesday ahead of expiry of August derivative contracts and the speech by Federal Reserve Chief Janet Yellen that will provide a clue to the economic health of the US, according to media reports.

The lack of triggers also weighed on market sentiment.

The benchmark indices ended flat, with Sensex up a mere 4.67 points to  27,990.21 and Nifty up 3.45 points to 8,632.60.

Some of the key stocks that gained on Tuesday were TCS, Infosys, Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications while key losers included Tata Power, ITC, L&T, Bajaj Auto, and NTPC.
