Kolkata, Apr 13 (IBNS):  Decorative paint company Berger Paints India Limited on Friday said it is planning to come up with a plant near Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.

The plant will be built in the Sandila Industrial area, addressing product demands from the Uttar Pradesh – Bihar belt.

Uttar Pradesh is one of the highest revenue-generating state for the company.

Factories from West Bengal, Jammu & Delhi used to produce paints for the UP-Bihar belt so far.

This plant will now cater to the decorative and industrial requirements of UP and its surrounding areas.

With the increasing demand of its products, Berger Paints decided to come up with this new plant at an initial investment of Rs. 1.5 billion. The final proposed projected capacity for the UP plant is 2 Lakh KL/MT per annum.

Speaking on this occasion, Abhijit Roy, MD & CEO of Berger Paints said, “Berger Paints India Limited is one of the largest paint companies in India with a turnover of more than Rs. 5,000 crores. Berger Paints is present in all segments of paint including decorative, automotive, industrial, and protective and powder coatings. Production of decorative paints in the pre-existing plants was not a cost effective proposition in the long – run. Hence, coming up with a new unit was highly required with the continuous market growth after the implementation of GST in the paint sector.”
