Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Jan 30 (IBNS): Etihad Aviation Group on Wednesday is participating in the Global Investment in Aviation Summit (GIAS) held over three days in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The summit is an opportunity for aviation leaders and experts from around the world to gather and explore investment opportunities, hear from subject matter experts and showcase the latest technology trends within the sector.
Etihad is represented at the event by numerous divisions, each showcasing innovative solutions and range of services available to those looking to invest in aviation. Amongst them are Etihad Airport Services (EAS) which provides extensive catering and ground support services not only to Etihad Airways but also to third party aviation operators and the hospitality industry. In addition, EAS provides services and support in the areas of licensed pest control, microbiological food and water testing, and laundry services.
The group’s training division, Etihad Aviation Training (EAT) is also present at the event. EAT recently became the first full European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Approved Training Organisation (ATO) for the transport category in the UAE. The EASA ATO approval covered Airbus A320, A330 and A340 aircraft, with ambitions to extend this certification to include the Boeing fleet, as well as the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) and Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) courses in 2019.
Etihad Engineering, the largest commercial maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service provider in the Middle East, is showcasing its comprehensive service portfolio at the event. Services range from heavy maintenance and complex modifications to connectivity and component services on Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
Some of its most recent innovations include research into digital and paperless MRO, the use of 3D printing of spare parts and a new fuel drainage system, an invention developed and patented by the Etihad Engineering Design, Engineering & Innovation Team. The ‘Fuel Drain Doctor’ is a system that improves the difficult and essential maintenance task of removing condensate water from aviation fuel. It also eliminates the environmental and health hazards associated with performing the task.
Abdul Khaliq Saeed, Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Airways Engineering, said: “Etihad Aviation Group’s involvement and support of this summit highlights our commitment to supporting the growth of aviation within the UAE and at a global level. EAG is at the forefront of innovation in the region and worldwide, highlighted by our ever-expanding product offerings across the supply chain. EAG is well positioned to provide a full end-to-end service for those looking to invest in aviation and looks forward to supporting growth within the region and beyond.”
Also present at the event are representatives from Etihad’s Human Resources and Procurement and Supply Management departments.
