Mah Interim Budget hikes funds for Minority Welfare,to infuse Rs 8,733 cr for irrigation projects
Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) The State Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar tabled the interim budget for the year 2019-20 on Wednesday in Maharashtra assembly here.
The interim budget pegged the revenue deficit for the year 2019-20 at Rs 19,784 crore as the revenue expenditure will probably stand at Rs 3,34,273 crore surpassing the estimated amount of Rs 3,14,489 crore.
The Minister said the interim budget has taken into consideration the needs of farmers,youths,and women.
He informed that the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis-led government was successful in maintaining the public debt below 15 per cent of Gross State Domestic Product for the year 2018-19.
Making economic announcements, Mungantiwar stated that a corpus of Rs 8,733 crore has been proposed for the construction of irrigation facilities to resolve water crisis of drought-prone regions across the state.
Focusing on state farmers,the interim budget included the corpuses of Rs 3,498 crore and Rs 5,210 crore proposed for several agricultural schemes and power subsidy to the agrarians,respectively.
Another set of proposals include Rs 3,700 crore to be alloted for construction of roads and Rs 2,164 crore for adding infrastructural facilities in remote areas under the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana.
This interim budget witnessed the surge in the fund amount to be alloted for Minority Welfare which stands at Rs 465 crore.
In the previous budget,Rs 350 crore were set aside for the Minority Welfare.
The Integrated Child Development Scheme will be alloted Rs 1,097 crore and the corpus of Rs 2,892 crore has been proposed for welfare of the backward classes.
