Mumbai: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has earned a spot in the global top 10 transportation and transportation infrastructure companies in the 2024 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) rankings, the company announced.

APSEZ is the sole Indian company to make the list, having previously ranked among the world’s top 15.

The company received a score of 68 out of 100, improving by three points from the previous year, placing it in the 97th percentile of its sector, up from 96th in 2023, reported Business Standard.

APSEZ achieved the highest scores in various criteria across social, governance, and economic dimensions, including transparency, reporting, supply chain management, cybersecurity, and customer relations.

It also retained the top position in the environmental category for the second year running.

“We firmly believe responsible business practices drive innovation and long-term success. The latest recognition reflects our commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility. Our team’s dedication to integrating sustainability across all our operations has been key to this achievement. We remain committed to our Net Zero by 2040 goal,” said Ashwini Gupta, the company’s whole-time director and CEO, according to the report.

As of December 31, 2024, 60 percent of the 318 companies in the transport and transport infrastructure sector had been assessed in the CSA 2024.

APSEZ, India’s largest private port operator, has a cargo handling capacity of 633 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) and plans to increase it to 1 billion mtpa by 2030.

The company operates at 13 Indian ports and terminals, managing 24 percent of the country’s total port capacity.

Internationally, APSEZ is developing a transshipment port in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and operates Haifa Port in Israel and Container Terminal 2 at Dar Es Salaam Port, Tanzania.

It aims to raise its international cargo volumes from 29 mtpa in 2025 to 150 mtpa by 2030.
