Edible oil company, Adani Wilmar Ltd, has taken legal action against a B2B platform for allegedly selling counterfeit products under its 'Fortune' brand, media reports said.

The malpractice came to light during a routine market survey conducted by Adani Wilmar representatives.

In response, the company has filed a First Information Report (FIR) through their agency, officially lodging a police complaint against the B2B platform for distributing counterfeit products in the name of 'Fortune' on their platform.

Following the filing of the FIR at Badalpur police station in Gautam Budhnagar District, Uttar Pradesh, law enforcement authorities took swift action and conducted a raid at the warehouse of the B2B platform involved.

During the raid, significant quantities of counterfeit products carrying the 'Fortune' brand name, the flagship brand of Adani Wilmar, were seized.

The seized counterfeit products included 126 pet bottles of Fortune Kacchi Ghani Mustard Oil (1 litre pack) without the lid, 37 fake Fortune Refined Soybean Oil (1 litre pouches), and 16 pet bottles of Fortune Sarso Oil (1 litre packs). This discovery has prompted Adani Wilmar to take legal action against the B2B platform to protect its brand and reputation from counterfeiters.

"We are deeply concerned about counterfeit products circulating in the market and posing risks to consumers' health," an Adani Wilmar spokesperson said.

The spokesperson emphasized that Adani Wilmar is treating this matter with utmost seriousness and is actively working in close cooperation with the authorities to promptly trace the origins of these counterfeit products.

The company is committed to taking strong measures against unscrupulous traders involved in distributing fake items under its reputable 'Fortune' brand.

Upon conducting a thorough investigation of the reported products, it was discovered that there were notable discrepancies in the batch code details, counterfeit QR codes, and variations in packaging materials, providing clear evidence of the presence of counterfeit products in circulation.

Adani Wilmar's commitment to ensuring the authenticity and quality of its products remains unwavering, and they are determined to protect consumers from the risks associated with counterfeit items. The company has vowed to take stringent actions against those found responsible for this illicit activity to safeguard its brand integrity and consumer trust.
