Agri Horti Produces of Assam draws attention in World Food India at New Delhi

Guwahati, Nov 3 : A team officers consisting Prabin Hazarika, Director of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam; Mowsam Hazarika, Assistant Director of Agriculture; Khagendra Sarmah, Sub Divisional Agricultural Officer ( Horticulture) and Bakul Saikia, Senior Agricultural Development Officer and Nodal Officer of FPC from Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam attended the 3- day long World Food India, 2017 held in New Delhi from Friday. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the event at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi as Chief Guest, where representative from various countries like Germany , Japan , Denmark, Italy, Netherlands etc participated in the mega event.


A global event to facilitate partnerships between Indian and international businesses and investors, World Food India (WFI) is a gateway to the Indian food economy and an opportunity to showcase, connect, and collaborate.


Organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, WFI will be the largest gathering of investors, manufacturers, producers, food processors, policy makers, and organizations from the global food ecosystem.


It aims to provides opportunities for both investment and trade in the food processing sector for leading Indian and international companies.


Encompassing the entire food spectrum from production to consumption, WFI is looking at creating a better sourcing environment, thereby enabling higher returns for farmers, creating employment, and fostering entrepreneurship.


WFI is  held in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), at New Delhi, India on November 3-5, 2017.


Being an important Partner State of WFI, Assam has showcased different agri-horti produces in this mega event. 


Altogether 6 nos. of Farmers Producers Company, namely , Ampri Orange Agro Producer Company, Brahmaputra Valley Honey Agro Producer Company, Janoki Agro Producer Company, Amlighat Banana Agro Producer Company, Merapani Agro Producer Company & Jirson Agro Producer Company, promoted by the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam participated in the World Food India, 2017 .


Kuhi Food Processing Unit of Assam also participated in the event.

Various Agri Horticultural produces like Ginger, Turmeric, Bhot Jolokia, Banana, Assam Lemon, Red Rice, Joha Rice, Black Rice, Organic Molasses and various processed foods draws attention to the visitors of foreign countries and various states of India. 

Ranjit Dutta, Minister of Irrigation , Assam and K K Mittal, Additional Chief Secretary and Agricultural Production Commissioner, Assam visited the Horticultural Stall of WFI and appreciated the entrepreneurs attended in the Stall.
