Tata Group-owned Air India Thursday announced a salary hike of up to Rs 15,000 for pilots besides an annual performance bonus of up to Rs 1.8 lakh with effect from April 1.

According to the official statement, the carrier has spiked salaries between Rs 5,00o and Rs 15,000 in fixed pay per month from first officer to senior commander.

There has been no salary hike for the Junior First Officers during this appraisal season.

The airline also announced bonuses of Rs 42,000 to Rs 1.8 lakh per annum from Junior First Officer (JFOs) to senior commanders.

First Officer and Captain will receive Rs. 60,000 annual bonus, while the commander and senior commander will get a 1.32 lakh and 1.80 lakh bonuses, respectively.

The carrier also announced compensation for pilots who have faced inordinate delays in their ground and simulator training.

"Pilots who underwent command upgrade and conversion training from April 2023 to March 2024 and whose training was delayed due to justifiable organizational reasons will receive additional compensation for time spent in training beyond the guaranteed 40 hours of flying," Air India said.

On Wednesday, the Air India Express Employees Union (AIXEU) flagged concerns about flight delays and cancellations, saying that the reduced number of departures is adversely impacting the salaries of the cabin crew.

They also claimed that more than 100 cabin crew have been sitting idle without flying duties for the last two months due to the non-availability of airport entry passes.
