Amazon plans to lay off 20,000 employees after over-hiring during pandemic: Report

| @indiablooms | Dec 08, 2022, at 04:52 am

Seattle/IBNS: E-commerce giant Amazon might lay off around 20,000 employees including corporate executives in the coming months, media reports said.

The tech giant, which employs more than 1.6 million globally, will likely lay off staff from various departments including distribution workers, corporate executives and technology.

The report by ComputerWorld added that the layoff would impact employees at all levels in the company, quoting anonymous sources familiar with the matter.

Last month, the New York Times reported that Amazon was planning to fire as many as 10,000 employees, which would mark the biggest layoff in the technology company's history.

However, now the report states that the number of laid-off employees could be doubled.
