CM Pinarayi Vijayan says Union Budget neglects Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, July 5 (UNI): Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said the Union budget neglected the interests of the state which had experienced the worst deluge in hundred years in August last year.
Reacting to the proposals in the Union budget, the CM said several promises including setting up of AIIMS were not mentioned in the budget.
Blaming that the proposal to a hike in cess on petrol and diesel prices by Re 1 per litre would badly affect a consumer state like Kerala, he felt that Kerala's request to raise the borrowing limit was not considered in the budget.
Many proposals in the budget will result into the price hike of essential commodities in Kerala, he added.
The allocations to public sector units including Cochin Shipyard, Cochin Port Trust and Rubber board were reduced.
There were no allocations to various development projects including inland water transport, Jal Jeevan Mission, he added.
