'Got scammed': Delhi man claims he ordered 1 gm gold coin from Blinkit, gets 0.5 gm instead

New Delhi/IBNS: Mohit Jain, a resident of Delhi, claimed that Blinkit, one of the leading Indian quick-commerce platforms, delivered a 0.5-gram gold coin instead of the one-gram coin he had ordered.

In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), Jain shared his experience, explaining that he had prepaid for a 10-gram silver coin and a one-gram gold coin.

Upon returning home, Jain discovered that the delivery included a 0.5-gram gold coin instead of the 24kt, one-gram Goddess Lakshmi gold coin he had requested.

“After 20 minutes, the return window got closed and I couldn’t contact any support executive,” he said.

Jain tried to contact the delivery driver, who confirmed the mistake but was unable to provide further assistance.

He mentioned that he had CCTV footage to support his claim and shared images online showing the delivered coin, screenshots of his order details, and the design difference between the received and ordered coins.

When he tried reaching Blinkit’s customer support, he was met with automated responses indicating that the complaint window had expired.

One message read, “The complaint window for the selected item(s) is closed,” followed by, “This will help us understand the issue better and improve our services.”

Jain’s post sparked reactions on social media, with users expressing similar frustrations.

One user commented, “Blinkit is a scam these days. Their customer care is a joke.”

Another user tagged Blinkit, questioning, “What is this behaviour?” and a third urged, “Blinkit, please look into this."

"I was going to order it but thank god I saw your post. I will avoid these platform for these goods," another user remarked.

One more user warned, "@letsblinkit will not even respond here. Never order anything other than grocery from them. They are not professional."

Jain later informed that Blinkit’s customer support team reached out after he emailed them, and the coin was now being returned.

This Dhanteras, quick-commerce platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and BigBasket offered rapid delivery of gold and silver coins.

Partnering with brands such as Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Tanishq, and Muthoot Exim, these companies aimed to provide faster and more convenient access to auspicious items, with Blinkit listing options like 1-gram Lakshmi gold coins and 10-gram silver coins for delivery within minutes to major cities.
