Indian government extends last date of filing ITR for Assessment Year 2019-20 to Nov 30

New Delhi/UNI: The government on Wednesday extended the due date for furnishing of belated and revised Income Tax Return for Assessment Year 2019-20 from September 30 to November 30, in the wake of genuine difficulties being faced by the taxpayers due to the COVID-19 situation.

''On further consideration of genuine difficulties being faced by taxpayers due to the COVID-19 situation, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) further extends the due date for furnishing of belated & revised ITRs for Assessment Yr 2019-20 from 30th September, 2020 to 30th November...,'' the notification issued by the Finance Ministry said.

The date for furnishing of Income Tax returns for the Assessment Year 2019-20 was March 31, 2020.

However, on consideration of difficulties being faced by the taxpayers due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic, the date was initially extended to June 30 and subsequently to July 31 and September 30.
