Indian market closes flat on Tuesday

Mumbai, Jan 2 (IBNS): The Indian market failed to pick up on Tuesday and closed flat, with BSE Sensex down 0.49 points at 33,812.26 and NSE Nifty up 6.70 points at 10,442.20.

According to reports, investors are keeping an eye on the run up to the annual Union Budget session scheduled for Feb 1 as well as the upcoming company earnings releases.

Top gainers on Tuesday included Tata Motors, Tata Motors (D), Tata Power, BHEL, Bharti Infratel, Coal India, ONGC and UPL while Eicher Motors, Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel, Aurobindo Pharma, SBI, Maruti Suzuki, Hero Motocorp, L&T and HPCL were some of the key stocks that declined.
