Indian market puts up a positive show on Wednesday
Sensex was up 481.16 points to 25626.75.
The indices opened on a high note on Wednesday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had announced on Tuesday that India is likely to experience 'above normal' rains, which is could be 106 per cent of the average of 89 cm.
Rainfall between 96 per cent and 104 per cent of the average is called 'normal' by IMD.
Talking at a Press Conference in New Delhi on Tuesday, Laxman Rathore, Director General, IMD said that monsoon will be fairly evenly distributed but the country's south eastern part may get slightly less rain. He also said that chances of a drought was one per cent in 2016.
Some of the leading stocks that ended Wednesday as gainers were M&M, ICICI Bank, Maruti, BHEL and Bajaj Auto .
Infosys and Adani Ports saw a decline in share prices.
The equity markets will remain closed on Thursday and Friday owing to two holidays -- Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti and Ram Navami, respectively.
