Indian Market: Sensex crashes 555.15 pts

Mumbai/UNI: Snapping a winning streak of last two sessions, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday tumbled down 555.15 pts at 59,189.73 on profit booking by local operators amid weak European Market.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too fell 176.30 pts at 17,646.06.

High volatility was witnessed today, as the Sensex opened strong at 59,942, up by 198 pts. During the day, it advanced 219 pts at 59,963.57, days high.

Later, it nosedived nearly 665 pts to 59,079.86 days low, before closing at 59,189.73, sliding 555.15 pts from its previous close.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 59,963.57 and 59,079.86 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,884.60 and 17,613.15 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices like Metal, Health Care, Consumer Durable, Realty and Capital Goods dragged the market.

In scrips, IndusInd Bank was a major loser by 3.54 pc at 1129.60 followed by Tata Steel, Bajaj Auto, HCL Technology and Realty stocks.

The Mid Cap declined by 1.22 pc and Small Cap by 0.55 pc.

In 30 scrips, 4 advanced while 26 fell.
