Snapping a winning streak of last two sessions, the BSE Sensex dropped 237.72 pts to close at 63,874.93 as selling was seen in Auto, Energy Technology and BSE Services stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) declined 61.30 pts at 19,079.60.
The Sensex opened higher at 64,112.65, rising 337 pts. It was surged to 64,452.32, days high advancing 340 pts . Later, it was dropped nearly 300 pts at 63,812, days low before closing at 63,874.93, down 237.72 pts from its previous close.
The stocks that fell were Auto by 0.58 pc followed by BSE Services by 0.53 pc, Energy by 0.43 pc and Technology by 0.29 pc.
In scrips, Sun Pharma was a major loser, slipped by 2.22 pc to Rs 1090.50, M& M by 2.20 pc to be 1464.65, Bharti Airtel by 1.18 pc to be 915, and IndusInd Bank by 0.96 pc to Rs 1441.
The gainers were Titan was up by 2.47 pc to Rs 3194, Kotak Bank by 1.17 pc to by 1737.55, Asian Paints by 1.10 pc to be 3000 and HCL Technologies by .78 pc to Rs 1274.50.
The Mid Cap rose by 0.29 pc and Small Cap by 0.02 pc.
In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.
