Indian Market: Sensex jumps 1016.96 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Friday rallied 1016.96 points to close at 57,426.94 on the strength of Metal, Finance services, Telecom, Power and Realty stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 276.25 points at 17,094.35.

The equity market which was down since last seven sessions, opened negative only at 56,240.15, fell 169 points.

It was dropped further by 262 points at 56,147.23, days low.

Later, it was bounced back 1313 points to 57,722.63 before closing at 57,426.92 from its previous close.

In scrips, Bharti Airtel, a major gainer, up by 4.42 per cent to Rs 799.25, IndusInd Bank by 3.93 per cent to Rs 1188, Bajaj finance by 3.28 per cent to Rs 733.15, Titan by 3.02 per cent to Rs 2608.25 and HDFC Bank by 2.96 per cent to Rs 1422.80.

The losers were Dr Reddy's laboratories by 0.61 per cent to Rs 4332.55, Asian Paints by 0.29 per cent to Rs 3375, ITC by 0.23 per cent to Rs 332.30 and Hind Unilever by 0.06 per cent to Rs 2700.10.

The Mid Cap rose by 1.39 per cent and Small Cap by 1.45 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 26 rose and 4 declined.
