Indian Market: Sensex up by 78 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday advanced by 78 pts at 38,922.68 in opening trade following gains in Material s, Finance, Health Care, Industrials and IT stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too rose by 29 pts to 11,501.70.

The Sensex registered intraday high and low at 38,980.60 and 38,846.76 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intraday high and low at 11,517.55 and 11,479.70 respectively.

The Mid Cap moved up by 0.59 pc and Small Cap by 0.67 pc.

In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.

The gainers were Bajaj Auto by 2.85 pc to Rs 3095.75, Bajaj Finserv by 2.23 pc to Rs 6648, M& M by 2.03 pc to Rs 621.80, Powergrid by 2.06 pc to Rs 188.55 and IndusInd Bank by 1.72 pc to Rs 545.50.

The losers were Bharti Airtel by 1.27 pc to Rs 521.90, Asian Paints by 0.69 pc to Rs 1987.15, HCL technologies by 0.46 pc to Rs 699.55 and Reliance Industries by 0.38 pc to Rs 2074.15.
