Indian Rupee down by 20 paise at 74.31 against USD

Mumbai/UNI: The Rupee on Monday slid by twenty paise to close negative at 74.31 against the US Dollar on brisk demand for US Dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the Forex Market said.

A local unit that fell by five paise at 74.16 in opening trade, dropped further by 20 paise and settled at 74.31

as compared to its previous close.

The Rupee remained weak due to firm dollar against other world currencies amid negative equity market, dealer said

The local unit registered days high and low at 74.41 and 74.13 respectively.
