Mumbai/UNI: The Rupee on Monday slid by 31 paise to close at 74.87 against the USD on brisk demand for US Dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the Forex Market said.

A major fluctuation was seen during the day, as the domestic unit eased by 22 paise at 74.78 in early trade.

Till the end of the session, it was further dipped and settled at 74.87, 31 paise down as compared to its previous close.

The Rupee was seen weak due to firm dollar against other world currencies amid negative equity market, dealer said.

The local unit registered days high and low at 74.90 and 74.72 respectively.
