New Delhi/IBNS: The last date to link the Aadhaar number with PAN (Permanent Account Number) has been extended up to June 30, 2021, in order to provide relief amid rising cases of Coronavirus, the Income Tax Department announced Monday.

The deadline to link both the cards earlier was until Mar 31.

Failing to link the Aadhaar number with the PAN card could make one liable to pay a penalty of Rs. 1,000 as per the new section '23H' of the Finance Bill 2021.

In case, the PAN card is not linked with an Aadhaar card before the last date, it is likely to become inactive.
