New Delhi/IBNS: The retail inflation based on Consumer Price Index (Combined) rose to a three-month high of 4.91 percent in November spurred by rising food prices.

ReFood inflation grew by 1.8 percent in November while the increase was 0.8 percent in the previous month, data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) Monday showed.

The inflation print for November is lower than 6.93 percent in November 2020 and within the 4+/-2 percent target range of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The non-food, non-fuel inflation component increased to a five-month high of 6.08 percent.

There was a reduction in CPI inflation for fuel and light, paan, tobacco, and intoxicants, and miscellaneous items, the rise in inflation for food and beverages, housing, clothing, and footwear balanced it.

The rise in input costs and supply-side shortages is pushing up the prices at consumer level and it may impact demand in the future.

Fuel and light inflation was 13.4 percent in November while it was 14.4 percent a month ago.

Vegetable inflation was stood at -13.6 percent and it was against -19.4 percent a month ago.

Clothing and footwear inflation was at 7.9 percent in November compared with 7.5 percent in October.
