SAIL records best ever annual sales in FY17, growth of 8% over CPLY

New Delhi, Apr 1 (IBNS): Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) recorded the best ever sales performance for any given year during FY 17 (Apr-Mar’17) with a growth of 8% over corresponding period last year (CPLY).

The total sales stood at 13.143 Million Tonnes in FY17.

The company also recorded the best ever total sales figure for the month of March 2017 which stood at 1.575 MT and recorded a growth of 21% over CPLY.

On the production front as well, the company recorded a growth of 12% in saleable steel production for FY17 over FY16.

The techno-economic parameters showed improvement in FY17 of 3% in Coke rate and 6% in BF productivity over CPLY.

SAIL Management’s sustained and selective focus on increasing production and adopting newer marketing strategies are starting to yield results.

The company’s increasing footprints in exports have also contributed to the best ever numbers with exports tripling during the period.

At the same time, SAIL is readying to offer more value added products to cater to the growing needs of domestic steel market with a view towards more customized products.
