Sensex, Nifty trade lower

Mumbai, May 21 (IBNS): The BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty traded lower on Wednesday as foreign investors sold off cash shares worth Rs 104 crores on Tuesday.

Recent gainers posted falls on Wednesday as the Sensex traded 45.56 points lower at 24,331.32 while the Nifty was trading at at 17.20 points lower 7,258.30.

The declines are mainly see as due to profit-taking and consolidation after an extended rally due to the election win of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty had climbed to a lifetime high of 25,375.63 and 7,563.50 on May 16, the day of the election results.
