Sensex surges by over 300 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Monday rallied 300.07 points to 66,898.98 in the opening session as buying was seen across the board.

The Nifty rose 100 points to 19,920.35.

The stocks, especially metal, banking, and technology stocks, were seen as strong in early trade.

The midcap moved up by 0.75 percent and the small cap by 0.71 percent.

In 30 scrips, 27 advanced, 2 declined, and one remained unchanged.

The gainers were Wipro, which was up by 1.27 pc to Rs 435.60, HCL Technologies by 1.18 pc to Rs 1276.95, SBI by 1.16 pc to Rs 590.20, Maruti Suzuki by 1.14 pc to Rs 10,449.95, and Tata Motors by 1 pc to Rs 633.95.

The losers were Powergrid by 0.19 percent to Rs 258.25 and IndusInd Bank by 0.07 percent to Rs 1446.60.
