Siemens welcomes Union Budget's focus on skill development

New Delhi, Feb 29 (IBNS): Sunil Mathur, MD & CEO, Siemens Ltd welcomed the Union Budget's focus on rural, social and skill development, which was presented by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday.

He called the budget an inclusive one with steps which have been proposed to simplify tax laws and improve ease of doing business.

"We welcome the focus of the budget on rural, social & skill development, making it an inclusive budget as also steps which have been proposed to simplify tax laws and improve ease of doing business," Mathur said.

"We also welcome the increased investments in railways & highways and hope that the government acts upon rationalizing  corporate tax & interest rates to encourage private sector spending," said he.

Jaitley on Monday presented the Union Budget 2016 focusing on rural development and farm and social sector along with infrastructure with analysts terming it a pro-poor, pro-agriculture move that throws a challenge to the government to implement in reality.

Major focus of the budget is on agriculture and farmers’ welfare, with a massive mission to provide LPG connection to poor households, a new health protection scheme, increased outlay for infrastructure,  Rs. 2.87 Lakh crore Grant in Aid to Gram Panchayats and Municipalities and setting up of 1500 Multi Skill Training Institutes and incentives for jobs creation.
