Subsidised LPG rates hiked, Kerosene may follow soon

New Delhi, Oct 29 (IBNS): Subsidised domestic cooking gas (LPG) is going to cost more by Rs 3 per cylinder as Centre raised the commission paid to dealers, media reported.

According to reports, The Government had on October 23 (on Diwali) hiked the commission paid to dealers by Rs. 3 per 14.2-kg cylinder (used for domestic purpose). The new rate has been revised at Rs. 43.71 per cylinder.

Subsequently the retail selling price of subsidised LPG cylinder too has been increased in the same proportion.

Since, the increase in commission is passed on to consumers as per practice.

As a matter of fact, dealers' commission was last revised in December 2013 when it was hiked by Rs. 3.46 per cylinder to Rs. 40.71.

As a result of this hike, subsidised LPG in Delhi now costs Rs. 417 per 14.2-kg cylinder as against Rs. 414 previously.

In Mumbai, subsidised LPG will cost Rs. 452 per 14.2-kg cylinder as against Rs. 448.50 previously.

Not only that, the hike in dealers' commission has also resulted in the rate of non-subsidised LPG.

Now, a non-subsidised 14.2-kg cylinder costs 883.50 up from Rs. 880 previously.

It has been learnt that the decision will benefit around 13,896 LPG distributors across the country.

Media also reported that, Kerosene will also be costlier by less than a rupee soon as the government has decided to raise kerosene dealers' commission.

The oil ministry though has not disclosed the quantum of the hike.

Kerosene is currently sold at Rs 14.96 a litre in Delhi.
