Tata Power Skill Development Institute trains 13,527 people in FY18

Mumbai/ Kolkata, Feb 12 (IBNS): Tata Power, an integrated power company, through its skill development endeavor, TPSDI (Tata Power Skill Development Institute) has trained 13,527 people in FY18, thereby enhancing their employability prospect, a company statement claimed. 

"To date, TPSDI has trained more than 27,000 people across India in modular training courses that are purposefully designed to be market driven in the power and allied sectors," the statement said.

This year, TPSDI has seen a 13% increase in people trained when compared to FY 17, that witnessed 11,898 students trained under various skill development programmes

TPSDI is Tata Power’s commitment to the Government of India’s call to skill India and has set up five training hubs in five locations in the country leveraging the facilities of Tata Power which includes Shahad – Mumbai, Maharashtra; Trombay – Mumbai, Maharashtra; Maithon – Dhanbad, Jharkhand, Mundra – Kutch, Gujarat and Jojobera – Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.

Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) also introduced Skills on Wheels, a mobile concept to make skill trainings more accessible to people.

Through this 'Mobile' training and assessment center, TPSDI will provide Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), training and accreditation to Neighborhood Electricians as well.

Speaking about this achievement, Anil Sardana, CEO & MD, Tata Power, said, “TPSDI was set up with an aim of serving the Nation by skilling employable youth as well as to bridge the skilled labour gap faced by the power sector. With the best training facilities and design that imparts courses in the best possible manner, TPSDI is steadily serving the purpose it was intended for. TPSDI's unique certification system will be a great value addition for both - the learners and the Industry. We are extremely happy that 13,527 people have been trained by our centers this year. By getting skilled, these students will find great value for themselves and will also be able to contribute more productively at their workplace."
