New Delhi/IBNS: The Union Cabinet Thursday increased the dearness allowance for Central government employees and pensioners by 3 percent with effect from July 1, 2021.

Once it comes into effect, DA will be increased to 31 percent and benefit 47 lakh Central government employees and pensioners.

Earlier in September, the Department of Expenditure, under the Ministry of Finance, had issued a memorandum that said the retired central government employees will receive cash payment and gratuity.

Before that the Central government had increased DA and Dearness Relief (DR) given to central government employees and pensioners from 17 percent to 28 percent with effect from July 1, 2021 to benefit around 48.34 lakh central government employees and 65.26 lakh pensioners.

The memorandum had also spoken about the issues relating to the payment of the DA during the period from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.
