Mumbai/IBNS/UNI: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said ten people have lost their lives so far and more than 21 have received severe injuries after landslide incidents in Raigad district of Maharashtra.

Fadnavis, who was speaking to the house of the Maharashtra Assembly here on Thursday, expressed deep grief over incidents of landslides in Irshalwadi village.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has announced compensation of Rs. 5 lakh each to the next family of victims who died in landslide incidents on Thursday.

State Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the site this morning and inspected the rescue work along with his four ministerial colleagues.

Shinde coordinated with teams of NDRF and other agencies involved in rescue operations there.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Shinde after the landslide incidents in Raigad.

Shah tweeted, "I spoke with CM Eknath Shinde about the landslide incidents due to heavy rain in Raigad, Maharashtra. Four NDRF teams have reached the spot and are working with the local administration to carry out a rescue operation."

The rescue team saved many lives by pulling them out of debris, but some civilians are still under the rubble, and efforts are on to rescue them, said police control of Raigad.
