Bangalore, Jun 5 (IBNS) As part of the activities marking this year's World Environment Day, students at Greenwood High International School pledged to paint the town green.
In a bid to consciously encourage everyone to inculcate environment friendly habits, the students at Greenwood hosted a range of activities.

The students organized a community cleanliness drive in the neighborhood.

The drive had the students involving the community members and staff in clearing the neighborhood of garbage and waste and educate the by passers about the ill-effects of unmindful littering.

The students also carried out a sapling planting drive with the support of the school to spread the green message.

The school also supported the students by helping them manage waste responsibly. Each class was given a pair of bins with fertilizer powder which would help them turn waste into compost. The same compost will be then used to plant vegetables like spinach, potatoes, etc.

Niru Agarwal, Trustee, Greenwood High International School said, “Our students have always displayed tremendous level of concern towards the environment. The students have approached us with their idea of celebrating the day and we were more than happy to accommodate and help them accordingly. It is heartening to see the students come forward and actively participate to help make the earth a better place to live in. Their efforts reflect how much they are concerned and are dedicatedly working towards accomplishing their goals."
