Vizag, Oct 11 (IBNS) : Cyclone Titli that hit the coast in southern Odisha on early Thursday, had a severe impact on neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, leaving two persons dead, media reports said.
The cyclone uprooted trees and electric poles. 'Titli' which intensified into a "very severe cyclonic storm" over the Bay of Bengal also triggered heavy rain and strong winds.
Over three lakh people in Odisha's five coastal districts were moved to safety as a precautionary measure. The disaster management authority has asked people to stay away from low-lying beaches and other locations which may be swept by high tides or storm waves.
'Titli' made a landfall near Gopalpur area in Odisha, Indian weather officials said.
The landfall started early on Thursday morning.
School and colleges in the cyclone-hit area have remained closed.
Train and flight services have been hit badly in Odisha.
