Shimla, May 2 (UNI) The cyclonic windstorm Fani is currently active in parts of northwestern Himalyan states and have brought thunderstorms, lightening, hail, rain and snow in last 24 hrs, the local Met Office said on Thursday.
According to the reports, the gram panchayats of Mashobra, Balhdeina, Malyana, Patgaer, Koti, Darbog, Shatlai Pareeen, Janaidghat, Balhog, Bhaidach and Jungu under Kamsupti Assembly segments were hit by hail storm on Wednesday causing massive damage to the apple plants and other off season vegetables in the area.
President of Himachal Prasdesh Kissan Sabha Kuldeep Singh Tanwar demanded the government to conduct survey of loss caused by the wind storm and provide compensation to affected farmers.
Dhauladhar ranges in Kangra, Sachpass in Chamba, Rohtang & Kunzum passes, Lady of Keylong, Seven sister's hill and Goshal hill of Lahaul Spiti, Kinner Kailash ranges, high reaches of Asrang Lippa, Chutkul and Namgai of Kinnuar and Dodra Kawar and Chanshal pass of Shimla got mild to moderate snowfall in the last 24 hours, the officer further said.
The high reaches of Kullu, Lahaul Spiti and Kinnuar also had light snowfall in the day and rain lashed its down stream as the dark clouds were hovering the sky.
The intensity of hailstorm was confined to Shimla and surrounding areas as thick blooms of flowers grounded in many places due to hails.
The Met Office said that Pooh of Kinnuar got 25 mm rainfall, Khadrala of Shimla 15 mm Shimla 12 mm, Rampur 10 mm, Kalpa in Kinnuar nine mm, Renuka & Sangrah in Siramur eight mm.
Tourist resort Kufri had six mm rain, Mehre in Kangra & Sarahan of Shimla four mm each, Bijahi in Mandi three mm Mashobra and Rohru in Shimla, Paonta in Sirmaur, Pandoh in Mandi, Manali in Kullu two mm each.
The minimum temperature of Keylong was coldest in the state and was recorded at minus 1.6 degrees Celsius.
Kalpa recorded three degrees, Manali 7.6 degrees, Kufri in Shimla 6.1 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu 10 degrees, Dalhousie 10.9 degrees, Chamba 12.6 degrees, Shimla 13.6 degrees, Sundernagar 14.5 degrees, Mandi 14.2 degrees, Hamirpur 14.8 degrees, Bilaspur 15.2 degrees and Solan 15.5 degrees.
Dharamshala was 16.4 degrees, Kangra 17 degrees, Una 17.7 degrees and Nahan in Sirumaur 18.5 degrees respectively.
The Met office forecast rain or thundershower in few places of mid hills and part of high and foot hills in the state during the next 24 hours.
He also warned that thunder or hail storm with gusty winds very likely to occur in the district of Shimla, Solan Mandi, Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur and Kangra during the next two to three hours in the state.
