Mumbai, Sept 4 (IBNS): As heavy rains lashed the city and left several areas water-logged, weather officials have issued a red alert for Mumbai and adjoining areas for the next 24 hours.

Water-logging has been reported from Navi Mumbai area.

Mumbai rains continue to be on the higher side and rainfall has been non stop lashing with no signs of stoppage. Flights on an average are delayed by at least 25 minutes, reported private weather forecaster Skymet Weather's website.

Central Railways said train movement has been disrupted due to rains.

"Long distance trains update-3 and 4 (combined) of 4.9.2019Trains cancelled/ short terminated/rescheduled due to heavy and continuous rains and waterlogging. Incovenience caused is regretted," Central Railways tweeted.

" Mumbai rains will remain on the higher side with the city witnessing more hefty showers today. Moreover, rainfall activity will continue tomorrow as well. While rainfall activity will be slightly lesser than today, three digit rains cannot be ruled out tomorrow as well," Skymet Weather said.
