Delhi moms join 'FeedToDefeat' campaign to raise awareness on breast cancer
New Delhi, Oct 19 (IBNS): In order to mark October as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Medela India, producer of technologically advanced breastpumps, on Monday organized an awareness campaign 'FeedToDefeat' during Raahgiri at Connaught Place, to encourage women to breastfeed their baby.
The event saw participation from women across Delhi NCR who came forth to pledge for breastfeeding by signing up on a giant pink balloon installed in the inner circle area, blocked for Raahgiri.
A musical rock band performance on the ‘Magic of Mother’s Milk’ set the tone of the event and emphasized on the importance of breastfeeding.
According to WHO, breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women worldwide, both in the developed and developing countries. Studies show that women who breastfeed for over a year, are five percent less likely to develop breast cancer.
Amit Raj Gogia, Country Head, Medela India said, “Breastfeeding is associated with the reduced risk of breast cancer, which is why it is important for new mothers to exercise breastfeeding. Medela India, through ‘FeedToDefeat campaign’ aims to empower women by enabling them to exercise breastfeeding as it helps in preventing breast cancer.”
The event was organized to inspire and encourage new age moms to breastfeed and defeat breast cancer.

“Women should understand that the health of their family is directly proportional to their health. If they don’t breastfeed, they’re not only weakening their child’s immune system but also their own. The activity is an initiative to get mothers acting on something as simple as breastfeeding,” says Amit.
A large number of youth, women and families participated in the FeedToDefeat campaign to support this noble cause.
The event saw a huge participation from the mothers of Delhi NCR who not only pledged for breastfeeding but also tapped their feet to the musical beats of the rock show. The Giant Pink Balloon with its presence drew a lot of attention towards it and the Rock band stole the show by thematic songs which gushed people’s enthusiasm to another level.
