World Vision India organizes Walkathon to raise awareness on AIDS
Flagged off at Ram Leela Park, the walkathon concluded at Y Channel, with participants carrying placards and other signs bearing information on how to limit the transmission of the deadly disease.
A street play, conducted at Y Channel also focused on the transmission of the HIV virus and sought to spread awareness on the critical issue in the city.
“AIDS is one of the most important social, economic and healthcare concerns of our times and continues to affect more than 2.2 million Indians today. It is the responsibility of every one of us to ensure that the right information is available out there for the public to make informed decisions when it comes to limiting the transmission of the disease. For the millions of Indians at risk of contracting HIV, an awareness of dangers posed by factors such as unsafe sexual activity and sharing needles can make the difference between a healthy life and death,” said Daisy David, Advocacy Officer, World Vision India.
