Kolkata, Feb 2 (IBNS) Westbank Health and Wellness Institute, a unit of Narayana Health Group located at Andul Road and Vidyasagar Setu Junction in Howrah is conducting free Cancer Screening Camp to mark the occasion of World Cancer Day on Feb 4.

The day-long camp will offer consultation with senior oncologists to address queries associated with various cancer-related issues such as head and neck cancer, oral cancer, breast cancer and so on.

Doctors will also educate people about cancer prevention and create awareness on treatment modalities.

The screening camp will be held on Wednesday from 10am to 5pm at the hospital.

The Westbank Institute is also launching the city’s first ‘Second Opinion Clinic’ for cancer patients and the services will be available every Thursday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

"This Clinic will offer free consultation to patients who have already being diagnosed with cancer and are looking for second opinion," read an official statement.

Rakesh Verma, Facility Director,  Westbank Health & Wellness Institute, said, "High treatment costs are one of the main reasons why cancer care is out of reach for millions of Indians. If detected early, treatment is effective and cheaper. Moreover, a second opinion in cancer treatment and diagnosis ensures that a patient is well educated about his or her treatment. “

Suman Mallik, Senior Consultant, Radiotherapy, Westbank Health & Wellness Institute said, “Today there are varied options for treatment and these options are more complicated than those offered in the past.  For this reason, it is advantageous to seek more than one opinion about how your cancer can be treated. Also, a second opinion provides the opportunity to get information from someone other than the physician who will be directing treatment, which is usually the first source of information for most patients. ”
